Eclectic Bedrooms

Eclectic. That word gets thrown around a lot. It means different things to different people. To me, it is a room that is put together over time with several different styles. Nothing too precious or formal.

A fabulous hodgepodge.

A collection of found objects and treasures.

But you'd better be careful. Sometimes it can be too much.

And instead of eclectic all I can think about is incense and patchouli oil.
Not always (or ever) a good thing.

And sometimes people try to cram too much of a good thing into one room.

But when it is done right there is nothing better.

I like. You like?

  1. These were great- and I agree- eclectic can go very wrong very fast. That's why I'm in awe of eclectic rooms that look great- I think it's so much harder to pull off than any other look.

  2. I love the blue and green one. But I've always liked the one with the pink bed, too.

  4. I like the look of a room that was put together over time. I don't, however, enjoy a room crammed with everything the person has ever picked up. Editing is good.

  7. That green and blue room completely knocks my socks off!!! I want to throw everything out of my bedroom and create THAT! P.S. I used one of your pix from your blog for my post today (credited of course!)

  8. I definitely like it and I think it is totally normal because most people do not have money/time/energy to do everything at once and tastes change and the result is eclectic!

  9. I would totally describe my style as eclectic, or a hodgepodge as you used, (I like that word) and I love it! I have many items that were collected over time from my parents and grandparents that I treasure. Traditional to modern I love it all mushed together.

  12. I love how these rooms don't feel stiff or formal at all, they all look like a "home". I really like the last image.

  13. so fun to find this bedpost today because i've just been spent an hour on a hodgepodge wall in my bedroom - black and gold and silver frames on one wall that i just love so far -- this gave me even more inspiration
